The Government’s long overdue u-turn in creating a separate criminal offence for assaulting a shopworker is the culmination of years of campaigning from UsdawUnion, The Labour Party and many others across the sector #FreedomFromFear independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/… [1/5]
UsdawUnion The Labour Party Alex Norris MP Thank you to everyone who stood with shopworkers on this vital campaign. Every petition you signed, letter you delivered and email you sent made a difference. We know you’ll be with us as our campaign continues to end violence against shopworkers once and for all.
UsdawUnion The Labour Party Alex Norris MP The fight isn’t over until every shopworker can go to work with freedom from fear: we have to examine the detail of government proposals and keep up the pressure until this law is on the statute books and authorities have the resources they need to implement it.
After years of government delay during which thousands of shopworkers faced rising levels of violence, this campaign win was only made possible by the relentless campaigning of the co-operative movement, trade union UsdawUnion, The Labour Party, Alex Norris MP and our members.
A huge thanks to the UsdawUnion members who joined Stoke-on-Trent Labour out in Birches Head today as we shared the The Labour Party and Co-operative Party plan for safer high streets.
High Streets are the heart of their communities and the more we can do to support them to thrive, the better!
