20 inch #BrownTrout from #PaintsvilleLake today.....and this was not the only one! These fish average 8-9 inches when stocked. Must be at least 16 inches before they are legal to harvest. Fish are surviving over multiple years..

46 inch #Musky from #DeweyLake this week. This big guy was on the bank. Water temps are ranging between 47-51 degrees and climbing. Plenty of nice bass and Crappie too. Take advantage of this nice warm up to shake off the dust of winter!

Next month #WhiteBass will begin their spring spawning migrations up lake or up stream to spawn on gravel bars in shallow water. These fish from #DeweyLake begin their journey into upper John's Creek soon. Check these up stream areas when you see red buds begin to bloom in April.

Big bass are up shallow right now at #DeweyLake and other locations. These fish were taking advantage of shad in shallow bank line areas. Mid lake is clearing and water temps are in the low 50's.

The KY Fish Hatcheries folks were hard at it today! The big walleye from last week spawned and was released back into the river. She was definitely full of eggs...it took 2 jars! Leave your guesses for the number of eggs in the comments and we'll post the answer next week! #FishKY

Two #FishHabitat sites renovated at #YatesvilleLake this week with donated Christmas trees. These trees will provide some much needed resting and foraging cover for fish once the water level begins to return to summer pool in April.

We sampled good numbers of bass in and above the 12-15 inch protective slot limit at Elmer Davis Lake. Anglers need to continue to harvest bass less than 12 inches on lakes managed with slot limits. Anglers participation in harvest is essential for slot limits to work.

One of the largest bass we have collected at #MartinsFork Lake in the past few years. Measuring 23 inch and just over 6 and a half pounds. Numerous fish available in the 15-20 inch range this year. Additional habitat work is planned for this season here.

57,000 #walleye fingerlings stocked in #PaintsvilleLake yesterday. The staff at Minor Clark Hatchery have produced a bumper crop of walleye this year and most lakes will be getting extra! At Paintsville, EFD is transporting fish out to weed beds in hopes of increasing survival.

Some underwater images of artificial fish habitat after about two years . These are corrugated pipe and concrete block. Well covered in algae and seeing good fish usage.

More under water images of artificial fish habitat that was more recently set out. Algae had not had time to begin growth yet. These show difference in structures placed close together vs. more spread out.

#BoatRamp renovations currently underway at #DeweyLake. Engineering staff from #KDFWR are taking advantage of a water level deviation to make significant improvements. The Goble (Campground) ramp is currently closed and will be for the interim while under construction.
