We all face problems. The tiny humans and the tall ones. We can do tricky things and we are ALL doing tricky things. This week we talked about problem solving strategies to equip even our littlest learners to problem solve too. #ProblemSolving Kimberly Attell LASDK8

I just got a survey asking about my child’s social emotional well-being that will serve as part of his school’s “COVID recovery planning” for next year. Not “learning loss,” but social-emotional support. Brava. This is where our focus should be right now.

One of my most cherished closing activities with my kids is sharing kind messages with each other (and to themselves).I hope they keep them forever as a reminder of how amazing they really are! ❤️ #jesvt #classroomcommunity #KindnessMatters Vermont PBIS

My biggest fear, and the biggest irony, is that after all we experienced and learned this past school year, we will return to the status quo without any improvements.

I remember a teacher telling me: “When you’re surrounded by superstars… it makes you want to be better than you are.” That’s the power of collaboration -- the power of positive peer pressure. The best teachers don’t just inspire their students; they inspire their colleagues.

As my 10yo got his Pfizer Inc. vaccine tonight he was nervous but kept whispering his (high risk) best friend’s name over and over. And I have zero regrets that my kid was scared and yet did something out of love for another person anyways.

Perhaps to solve the great teacher resignation, we should consider the root causes & address those rather than lowering the bar. 1.Raise pay 2.Reduce class size 3.Provide resources (planning time & supplies) There’s not a teacher shortage. Qualified teachers left the position.

I’m trying to write my “About the Author” section and my greatest accomplishment right now is that I’ve been an educator for 24 years and I still like it.

One of my most-used teacher moves is that when I notice a student not working on whatever we're doing, I'll just wait until I catch their eye and then just give them a thumbs up with a face that says, "You okay?" Often times the student nods and gets to it. Other times... 1/

A student came to me after seeing another student earn a reward for finally following directions in music class and said, “Sometimes it feels like when you’re always good, you need to try a lot harder to get noticed at school.” I will never forget this. And I promise to notice.
