Calling all ex-students! We are launching an alumni programme - Made @ Magnus - to bring former students in to inspire our current students by talking to them about their experiences with university and their careers. We’re also hoping to hold alumni events in the future!

When I hear students say that “languages are difficult”, I say, is the subjunctive any more difficult than quadratic equations in maths, or are cases more difficult than the periodic table? Languages are no more ‘difficult’ than any other subject. Difficulty is relative.

Great points in here. I have always thought Sats in year 7 sept make sense. Ensures more real scores and trajectory to GCSE is more accurate. Would need an alternative way of holding primaries to account. DfE should seriously consider this. tes.com/news/three-rea…

I know this piece by Adam Boxer has been wildly circulated. I just read it to find out why. It is spot on. He has unwittingly spoken for all the teachers I have spoken to... It is the must read of the pandemic for the teaching profession. achemicalorthodoxy.wordpress.com/2020/05/14/i-w…

It would be wrong for Ofsted to do any formal inspections this coming year. Schools will be coping with all children back (and the virus still around) and need time to breathe without the fear that Ofsted could appear. Ofsted should be repurposed to spread best practice.
