STATEMENT: Council Member Sandy Nurse, Council Member Shahana Hanif, Carmen De La Rosa, CM Jen Gutiérrez, Council Member Tiffany Cabán (D22) say the Mayor’s latest move to involuntarily disappear NYers with substance use disorder is an ineffective use of uniformed personnel & will do nothing to support neighbors on the road to recovery

Honored to be joined by Adrienne Adams reps from Jen Gutiérrez and David G. Greenfield of Met Council at our Rosh Hashana Food distribution happening now at 32 Penn Street.

EMS workers deserve fair pay and real support. While Council’s power is limited on wages, as Co-Chair of NYCProgressives.bsky.social I’m proud our Crisis 2 Care budget campaign won $1M for an EMS mental health pilot, a big investment in those who care for us. gothamist.com/news/desponden…

<Together with Jen Gutiérrez and Lincoln Restler we reached out to NYCHA. We thank NYCHA central staff for speeding up and being on top of the work - which is needed to ensure clean water tanks. It started today 930AM, and is scheduled to be completed tonight by 7PM.

I loved joining New Yorkers United for Child Care rally (with my little guy!) to demand more affordable childcare for working families! The Council took a first step on 2-Care this year with a small pilot & now we need to expand it to ensure all working families have access to universal child care!

JUST NOW: NYC Comptroller Brad Lander was arrested by DHS police a SECOND time at 26 Federal Plaza. Lander refused to leave the 10th floor until he was allowed to inspect ICE holding cells there. He was arrested with 10 other state elected officials.
