Strong response from Hilary McGrady I wonder if the PM & Chancellor have any understanding of the extent to which they have alienated National Trust members (+ RSPB The Wildlife Trusts etc.). A much greater %age of the population than the membership of political parties.

Following the news that private healthcare lobbyist Ben Morgan has been given an advisory role by Number 10, it’s time for me to once again post this sadly evergreen video from 2018. Full version here: youtu.be/gqh0vfPy1ro

It comes to something when a Barrister, who would normally fight the case in court, is so convinced of a legal and moral wrong doing he climbs into the trees he is trying to protect. This is a crime against the environment, biodiversity and community and possibly in law.

No it's not. France wants to ban it, large tech companies don't want it, and scientists say we shouldn't do it. Let's stop this before it starts - read all about it! theguardian.com/environment/20…

This Govts approach to wrongdoing - 1. It didn't happen 2. If it did happen, it wasn't me 3. If it was me, I did nothing wrong 3. If I did something wrong, I didn't knowingly do it 4. If I knew, it's not serious; nobody died 5. It's a witch hunt 6. Move on 7. Look over there

Stringent licensing regulation is long overdue - with real ‘teeth’ to sanction estates where this is happening. Listen to the very timely Phoebe Weston podcast ‘Killing the Skydancer’ to learn more. Guardian Science

Yesterday, the House of Lords voted in support of protecting our rivers by saying no to removing key legal provisions on #NutrientNeutrality. It is possible to build new homes while safeguarding our precious waterways - and we're pleased to see that these protections aren't going

National Trust Wow, one thing I’ll say with so many of these replies is the hope that people have, and how special this was. Reminds me of Penelope Wilton’s beautiful line in After Life.

A tricky 48 hours at Sycamore Gap however the tree has been safely removed and taken away until decions have been made on what we use it for. This special site can now be opened fully to the public. We welcome views on what to do with the wood.

Who here has visited Broadway Tower? 🏰 The tower was built in 1798 by James Wyatt for Lord Coventry. It sits on Broadway Hill, at the second-highest point of the Cotswolds. Among the people who stayed at the Tower were Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris.

It's as if Slartibartfast has been head-hunted from Norwegian fjords to zig-zags. How can you not feel energised walking through this door? The door (and window) in the south transept at Southwell Minster has some of the best articulated chevrons in the country.
