The UK must maintain support for Israel to free the hostages & defeat Hamas.

The mistaken strike on the aid convoy was a terrible tragedy that must not happen again - and it’s right Israel is fully investigating what happened.

But Israel is fighting the forces of evil in the form of Hamas and we cannot simply abandon them before they finish the job.

Today I met with senior military & political figures in Israel to discuss the war in Gaza & the tragic strike on the aid convoy.

My thoughts & prayers go out to the family & friends of those killed. This was a terrible mistake for which Israel has rightly apologised.

I’m in Israel meeting some of those affected by this terrible conflict.

There can be no durable peace without the release of all the hostages and the removal of Hamas from power.

As Home Secretary I changed the rules on the recording of Non-Crime Hate Incidents to prevent precisely this kind of problem & to protect free expression.

The police need to focus on cutting crime, not debating gender on social media.
