Serendipity is a beautiful word. Horace Walpole invented it in his tale 'The Three Princes of Serendip', whose heroes were always making discoveries by accident. Serendip was an ancient name for Sri Lanka (thought to come from the Sanskrit 'Dwelling-Place-of-Lions-Island).
