Through math, the world is one big, beautiful poem.

We all know 2 + 2 = 2 * 2. For some reason, I started wondering when a + b = a * b in general. The answer was kind of neat.

Car A goes 60 mph for 3 hours. Car B goes 10 mph for 4 hours. How much further does car A travel? If they swapped speeds, but not travel times, what is the combined distance both cars would travel? What is (3 + 4i)(60 + 10i)? Convoluted, but hmmm....

We should use systems of inequalities to summarize scatter plot data. In many ways, it is a better description of the relationship than a best fit curve. It's also an understandable application of systems of inequalities for students. #iteachmath

triangular, ____________, pentagonal, hexagonal What goes in the blank for the general quadrilateral? As in “triangular prism”. We have “rectangular prism” and “square prism”, but what’s the general adjective for prisms with 4-sided bases? Christopher Danielson maybe? #iteachmath
