The tragedy in BC due to wildfires is a good time to ask ourselves what kind of governance system gives us the tools to make progress on long-term issues - and keep moving forward? #ProportionalRepresentation ... /1 ccpi.org/ranking/

Canadians care deeply about a myriad of political issues but the instability of polar-opposite governments under First Past the Post means consistent solutions are out of reach. Regardless of what you care about most, the path to progress begins with #ProportionalRepresentation.

2021 is the 100th anniversary of the 1st govt elected on a promise of #ProportionalRepresentation. The evidence is clear. So is the self-interest of politicians. We'll continue to advocate for a National CITIZENS' Assembly on #ElectoralReform! Learn more: fairvote.ca/100-years-of-b…

Canadians can’t afford to wait another hundred years for self-interested politicians to act on #ElectoralReform. We need a National Citizens’ Assembly NOW! #PeopleNotPoliticians

If bringing peanut butter to a classroom/playground isn't safe ( & nobody screams foul for sacrificing personal freedoms), how is it fathomable that bringing Covid-19 is ok by declining vaccines? Vaccines for health care, education workers is a must. Period.

Polling Canada Congrats! Polling for this election, please also ask, "Who would you vote for if you didn't need to vote strategically?" Let's see what the real support is for smaller parties and what things would look like with #ProportionalRepresentation cc: Fair Vote Canada πŸ—³ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Fair Vote Waterloo

Great letter! "If we instituted a form of mixed #ProportionalRepresentation we would normalize minority govts, & raise expectations that govts would actually act for the benefit of a majority of Canadians." thestar.com/opinion/letter…

Fabulous thread of what good governance looked like. Can you see now that we have a problem??? It isn't fixing itself. We need #ProportionalRepresentation

When you can win absolute power with 39% of the vote, why bother working with other parties? The only reason we're having an early election is First Past the Post. #cdnpoli #ProportionalRepresentation

What happens if it’s another minority on Sep 20? Well, the last time Canadians kept the Liberal to two minority parliaments in a row β€” elected 1962 and 1964 β€” the result was a national, universal medicare plan.

Brian Beard Fair Vote Waterloo Jay Judkowitz Philippe J. Fournier Fair Vote Canada πŸ—³ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Disagree with this one. In a FPTP system it's the person with the most votes who wins, not the majority of votes. Either have a run-off system to get a representative elected by a majority, or make very vote count through a PR system.
