Week 2 of my new training scheme in the books and there’s a lot of positives. Feel like I’m handling the work well and it’s sustainable. That said, it’s a long term approach and not sure it’s going to get me where I’d like to be 11-12 wks from now but better that than burnout.

Whew! Another hot, humid morning! 5X3 min, 1X2 min at threshold + 4X20/60 strides. Feel like about all I can do in these conditions is go through the motions and try to survive. 🥵

This morning was nearly insufferable. Glad it was just an easy 52 min recovery run but keeping my HR in check required extra focus/discipline today! Looking forward to this breaking in a few days because right now runs feel more like an exercise in survival than anything else.

Cloud cover held in the humidity and make this one extra sauna-like this morning. 4X6 min at threshold + 2X30 sec strides all off 90 sec jogs. Weighed myself before and after and lost 4.2 lbs. 🥵

After this morning’s threshold workout, back into the heat/humidity for the second double of the week this afternoon. Not gonna say it was necessarily fun, but not that bad either, and sometimes you gotta train harder, not smarter, right?

Hoping to get the mileage back to 200+ in Aug, but Jul was my best month of the year so far and things are trending positive. How was your month? Hope it was a good one!

Finally some better temps and a lower dew point this morning, but at 86% humidity, I was still soaked by the end. 16 min w/u, 9/10/9 min at threshold w/ 2.5 jogs, 14 min c/d. Last rep in the 6:30’s for a pretty solid day!

Still not sure what I just watched in that 800. So 16 year old high schoolers run 1:42-low now…😳 #USATFOutdoors

Watching those 5ks has me wanting to go out and run, but I’ve got a workout in the morning and two runs on the day, so all in due time! #USATFOutdoors

Nice weather to start the week! Did 6X3 min at threshold then 4X20 sec strides all with 60 sec. Stomach wasn’t happy early and I just wasn’t really feeling it overall, but got it done.

I’ve always told myself, “Never ask why!” or maybe it’s the Nike motto “Just do it!” Low on motivation this morning and really didn’t want to get out the door but got my recovery run done regardless. Consistency is key!

First full week of following the Norwegian Singles Method to a T (pun intended). Three sub-threshold workouts plus a time-on-feet long run. Monitored HR on all the easy days, which meant going much slower than my usual pace. Finished up feeling good. Excited to see how this goes.

Yesterday’s workout: 5/6/5/5/5 min at threshold with 90 sec jogs. Last week was 5X5 min and I’m slowly working my way to 5X6. Recovery day today but another threshold in the morning. Run, recover, repeat!

Running while traveling for work is always challenging, but got it done this morning. 3X8 min at threshold with 2.5 min rec. The hills and humidity added to the “fun” but made for a solid day!

This morning’s work: 7X3 min at ThA with 60 sec jogs. Averaged 6:30 for the last 3, so in spite of being on the tired side, not a bad session. Easy long run in the morning. Happy Friday, everyone!

Trying to embrace the art of the easy long run because I know it serves a purpose and I need to stick to the plan. 80 min this morning nice and slow! I’ve run a half marathon 10 min faster than I covered 9 miles this morning, but it is what it is.

What a great morning for a workout! Under 50° when I got up. Today was 3X9 min with 2.5 rec and even though sleep hasn’t been great the past couple nights, I felt strong throughout. I’m sure the weather helped with that. Makes me look forward to fall even more!
