Sad to hear Keir Starmer saying immigration is turning the UK into an “island of strangers”. People who have moved here from other countries are my friends and neighbours, not strangers.

When will Keir Starmer learn that no matter how good his Nigel Farage impression gets, it won't save him from wipeout at the hands of Reform? Here's another idea - how about doing the work that's needed to actually make people's lives better? 🧵

Kendall says reform of PIP assessments starts today. Labour has repeatedly briefed that mental illness and neurodivergence are “overdiagnosed.” PIP already discriminates against mental illness and other fluctuating conditions. Mental health organisations need to be on this— now.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. As a gay man, I lived through Section 28. I remember how painful it was. Now, the culture war targeting trans people, questioning their right to even exist, feels even crueller. Solidarity. Always. 🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This is absolutely right. BBC News coverage has been poor. "A paranoid schizophrenic" is the wrong language to use. This fuels stigma and discrimination. The overwhelming majority of people with a severe mental illness are not dangerous. Reporters need to learn.

I’m for: Better environments for those in mental health crisis Easier access to qualified MH staff Shorter waits for all Addressing root causes of increased mental healthcare demand I’m against: Inaccurate use of term A&E Disparity for “MH patients” with physical health needs

This is a good question, and one I’m asked a lot - what is a woman? A woman is someone who would instinctively: - Use the women’s bathroom when there are two choices - Raise her hand when someone says, “Ladies, please raise your hand” - Shop in the women’s section for

The UK spends as much on tax breaks for the wealthy’s pensions as it does on benefits for people with disabilities. One is handed out automatically. The other is fought for, often for years. If you want to see how rigged our system is, read on. 🧵

Bipolar UK is calling for: A 12-month transition period (not 13 weeks) Specialist training for DWP staff Automatic exemptions for those with bipolar The right to live, work, and be safe without punishment for being unwell

Simon Kitchen (@simonkitchen20) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Bipolar is not a binary condition. It’s episodic, unpredictable, and often invisible. Welfare assessments must reflect that reality—not punish it

Dr Jay Watts (@shrink_at_large) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I think perhaps we need a campaign on mental illness as a disability. The latest YouGov survey shows most support disability benefits BUT 49% believe the rise in mental illness claims is due to overclaiming not poor health. This is dangerous for us as a community esp now.

# What is hard left about caring? # I have noticed that The Spectator and other further-right publications have described the new political party that Jeremy Corbyn, Zarah Sultana, and others might create as being 'hard left'. What is hard left about wanting people who have

It really is not rocket science. If this Labour government is to rebuild the country, it must start with the scourge of poverty – in all its forms. There can be no credible definition of success that does not include its eradication as a central goal. To those who say that in

Bipolar UK calls for all DWP assessors to receive mental health training—specifically on fluctuating conditions. Only 27% of people felt their assessor understood bipolar.
