The Conservatives have abandoned people living in blocks with flammable cladding - the Government’s failure to clarify the fire safety guidance is why this cladding went up in the first place

I just called on the Government to mark the 2nd anniversary of the fatal Grenfell Tower fire by bringing in a complete ban on flammable cladding (and why on earth haven’t they done it already?!)

Fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour put people off spending time in #Barking Town Centre. On one of my recent walkabouts, I’ve been highlighting fly-tipping and ASB hotspots to Barking and Dagenham Council officers so that we can put a better action plan in place to clean up the town centre.

I expect Rayner's replacement to be hit with pretty ferocious lobbying to remove or reduce post-Grenfell reforms to "get Britain building"

What a system. David Lammy spends years carefully building relationships with key people, including in the Trump Administraion, now for nothing. Yvette Cooper spends a year getting to grips with complex immigration policy, for what? Shabana Mahmood has the benefit of 14 months

Does anyone know what this is for? It seems you can’t use it anywhere anymore I thought it ‘promised to pay the bearer’ & was ‘legal tender’ 3 out of 4 places you try & get a coffee won’t take this any more

So what does this Angela Rayner mess mean for leaseholders & cladding scandal victims & Grenfell justice ? If it’s anything like the last 7 yrs, unfortunately nothing much. As you are ppl, as we sit & wait for more crumbs from process jockeys in hock to builders & freeholders.

So has The Labour Party! Keir Starmer can’t even resolve one dangerously defective newbuild in his constituency. Why should we trust Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Gov can do anything differently after a year in power with no progress?

Silence from Home Office on this. I recall when they were proactive about this. Everyone knows it’s happening, and now companies are bold enough to admit it?

The reality is this is because they’re spending no time fixing the mistakes of the past. Take the building safety crisis for example, zip. Building more homes is great but the platform included fixing the unsafe low quality ones that trap people today. The Labour Party doesn’t listen.

“Build, Baby, Build” — or “Fix the Foundations”? Steve Reed’s first slogan as Housing Secretary jars with his new dual brief: hit Labour’s 1.5m homes target and stop another Grenfell. Can both be done? My take 👇 bit.ly/3V5Ybnm Steve Reed Keir Starmer Matthew Pennycook MP
