For those quick to lecture me on being kind—no, I won’t be. I’m neutral. Kindness is a choice I might make, not a rule I’m obliged to follow everywhere.

Non-UK trained IMG doctors in some hospitals are capturing departments, funnelling all hiring through foreign pools, while British doctors feel ostracised. 'If you're a UK grad, you're seen as an outsider ... [you're seen] as an imposter and they want nothing to do with you'

Funny how the The RCN are now concerned about role substitution now that the nurse associates and physician assistants are taking nursing jobs . Silence when PAs were taking Drs jobs What a time to be alive . rcn.org.uk/About-us/Our-I…

August 1989 I started as a Dr #NHS a lot has changed in that time It isn’t easier, the more treatments/options you have the more complex care has become GP for 30ys & the role is more difficult now than it ever was The last 4yrs I’ve tried highlight the data - started with 👇🏻

How lovely to see the The RCN agree with what I said more than a year ago Recall vividly the snide remarks and the rest from some in nursing 'leadership' Even putting 'likes' on racist remarks from bot accounts made about me Anyway, better late than never. And to those

I started working as an NHS doctor 40 years ago. The job was challenging with long hours but also simpler in many ways than being a doctor now. The dividing lines between professional groups were clear and the risks from complaints, legal action and regulation much less than now.

Royal College of Physicians you’re to blame for the situation that unemployed Drs find themselves in now Not NHSE /senior clinicians You actively promoted Dr replacement, facilitated , LED on it , wrote documents to accelerate it , legitimised it . Pimped out your ‘ RCP’ name to it

‘regulate PAs by mid-2024 and ensure they have prescribing rights in 2025 – this includes consulting by the end of 2022 on the DLO that will bring PAs into regulation and keeping the period between regulation and granting prescribing rights as short as possible

NHS England NHS Employers various GOV.UK both Labour and Conservative could NOT have introduced direct Dr replacement by ANP ACP SCP AA PA on such an accelerated scale without your blessing . Why didn’t you stand up for the medical profession and say NO ?

So Royal College of Physicians are still pushing to expand medical school places despite placement overcrowding/quality issues and the significant postgrad bottlenecks. They should follow the The BMA policy to halt the expansion of med school places until these issues are addressed.

The moment you start entertaining ‘alternatives’, you legitimise the idea that medical training is dispensable that one can bypass the discipline, sacrifice the depth, and still claim clinical competence. It’s not innovation, it’s erosion. It sends the wrong message.

Dr Done This is not an isolated incident. Several Trusts have replaced medical consultants with cheaper non-medical ones. Patients are not always aware that their “consultant” is actually an OT for example who can’t prescribe but is instructing their residents/GP re complex med changes.

CONFIRMED ✅ ACPs are directly aimed at taking up the role of a qualified doctor. An ACP is a nurse, paramedic, physio etc, who is doing the job of a doctor, without any medical degree. Not "complementary".... not "supportive"..not an "extras pair of hands"....a direct swap

I am pro-NHS - tax-payer funded, as are the majority of Doctors. The Public & Govt have a decision to make. Either increase funding to deliver the required resources (staff, equipment, estate)… Or introduce an insurance based funding model. This will cost the public much more.
