That was vile from @KwasiKwarteng who actually just said "for too long in this country we've indulged in a fight over redistribution" Indulged? Dealing with inequality is somehow over-generous? Does he think people choose to be poor & face disadvantage? Disgusting #MiniBudget

I repeat: today saw the same fall in sterling that happened on Black Wednesday 30 years ago. It was exceeded only by the fall the day we voted for Brexit. This wasn’t about external factors: the government chose it. Today should be known as Black Friday.

The key thing today was the across the board collapse in the price of UK government bonds , spooked by Kwarteng and dramatically raising the cost of capital . The rate of growth of UK debt is unsustainable. A major crisis is just beginning.

NEW: Sources close to Privileges Committee say evidence is so damning that Boris Johnson could be 'gone by Christmas' if he returns. One Tory MP tells me any attempt to kill the inquiry could 'bring down the govt'. Yet momentum builds behind Johnson. itv.com/news/2022-10-2…

📊 #IFSSatStat: The new National Funding Formula has boosted funding for the most deprived fifth of schools the least (by less than 1%) since 2017. This follows bigger cuts for schools in deprived areas during the 2010s, esp. outside London, where educational outcomes are worst.

Sadly, 😔 we don’t always know the depths of someone’s depression until it is too late. May I please have even 1 friend to copy and re-post? I am trying to demonstrate that someone is listening 💕 Samaritans

Good move. To the extent they are used in admissions at all (not much) statements privilege those who can get the most help writing them.
