Elaine Dunne Federation Early Childhood Providers Peadar Tóibín TD I spoke to one of local county childcare committee (don't want to name which one here,I'll land them in trouble),and she told me they have been told of uite a few ECCE providers who are going fully private in Sept... it's going to all hit the fan then
Siobhan Peadar Tóibín TD This is just the beginning of services going completely private. They have no other choice. They are unviable. It makes me laugh when you hear the word sustainable being used. Who wants to be sustainable Peadar Tóibín TD Roderic O’Gorman TD
Elaine Dunne Federation Early Childhood Providers Siobhan Peadar Tóibín TD Roderic O’Gorman TD So right after yrs of personal investment ‘sustainable’ doesn’t cut it. Unfortunately, conditioned by use of word ‘sustainable’ by depart that it’s first word that springs to mind after months of low ball funding & inflation. Still no response as to ‘what’s a reasonable profit’
Louise Lawless Noel Chambers Elaine Dunne Federation Early Childhood Providers M Compass Media Roderic O’Gorman TD The Federation of Early Childhood Providers Park Academy in Beacon South Quarter have just told their parents today that they won't be running the ECCE service in Sept. That is BIG news. So now the chains have started. The Federation of Early Childhood Providers Irish Independent RTÉ News
◦Parents speaking out about lack of places. Issues with NCS,CF. Lack of places nationwide. Services closing down. Massive waiting lists. No staff to hire. Christine Higgins Roderic O’Gorman TD So you are forced to change your service type so government funding will work for you. Core Funding has failed so many providers. Many are saying they are pulling out of scheme in August. Government policy is failing the child, parents and providers Roderic O’Gorman TD
Taking to a provider closing in June, no money to pay redundancies. Feels she is forced out of business because of ECCE capitation. 7% rise is 13 years is wrong. Roderic O’Gorman TD is it your intention to close these services down because you have done nothing to keep them open
And this is all going to crumble parental choice is gone. We have support from other sectors. Closing our doors is a decision we as providers have not taken likely. Leo Varadkar Paschal Donohoe we need to resolve these issues. It is now very obvious that Roderic O’Gorman TD and @dcediy are not listening
If we had changed our model as planned this would have without doubt have closed our service. No way can a PT service run on €4.60 per hr. Pay staff & provide meals 😡Mark Wall TD Aontú Kathleen Funchion SF @Seán Ó Fearghaíl TD
Joanne Murphy Mark Wall TD Aontú Kathleen Funchion SF Seán Ó Fearghaíl TD Impossible with staff ratio reduced 1:8 hot dinner, breakfast & snack to be provided for €4.60 per hr. This was an alternative plan for many struggling services now even more pushed to breaking. No service big or small can provide quality care on these figures.
So many providers have had enough of the administration burden forced on them because of department bureaucracy. We are 💯 saying no to Chart of accounts. The cost and time it will take has to be taken into consideration.
