Study shows that higher warming in Europe than expected is due to aerosol changes (e.g. dirty fossil fuels did partly mask short term their long term warming effect). Effect is likely not specific to Europe.

WOW! 21% increase of Earth's energy imbalance, to almost 1W/m², and (as a measured result) 9% increase in the average mean surface temperatures. In just 3 years. And it's the 10-YEARS AVERAGES. This is a critical, vital, emergency. #climateCrisis Urgent #ClimateAction needed!

It should be obvious by now that new nuclear (including SMRs) is a useless (thus damaging) climate solution. Here's a new report reinforcing this. SMRs: Still too expensive, too slow and too risky ieefa.org/resources/smal… IEEFA.org David Schlissel Dennis Wamsted

The Bonn climate talks are over. My take:🧵👇🏿 Multiple factors are setting us up for a terrible shock at COP29 in Baku later this year. This ticking disaster threatens to undermine the national climate plans (NDCs) countries will be publishing next year = 1.5C is at risk

This small #heatpump provides heating for 100'000 persons. Yes, it is relatively small for that job! 60 MW of heat. Previous world largest was heating 64'000 at 90°C: star-ref.co.uk/news/bbcs-take… It also provides grid services and stores heat for days nearby! man-es.com/discover/esbje…

-45% Gas for electricity within just 1 Year in California! That's the kind of speed we need and CAN achieve for #climateAction! : "In the 100 days to June 14, California saw a 45% reduction in gas-fired power output, relative to the same period a year before". #Amazing #Hope

Inondations/Flood à Morges, Switzerland: never-seen-here intensity of rainfalls: 24heures.ch/un-violent-ora… Remember: hotter air stores more humidity -> Much drier for longer, but then Much more heavy water precipitation when it rains. And it's exponential... #ClimateChange

Largest distributed V2G/V2X test concluded with big success in Switzerland: 50 shared cars at 40 locations, with 3 different electricity uses, many grid operators, and a yearly additional revenues possibility of $2000 per year per car. Key findings: mobility.ch/en/magazine/su…

This 50% price drop is huge: It means electric car prices will drop below gas powered. And batteries will become standard with solar. Proof: BEV prices in China are now lower than gas-cars.

Just saying. Anyone (scientists, business people, pundits & policymakers) pushing new nuclear of any kind is misleading the public about its usefulness as a solution to climate change, air pollution, and energy security.
