Finally some very welcome progress on establishing wellbeing as the goal of government. Keir Starmer “With every pound spent we would expect HMT to weigh not just it’s effect on national income but also it’s effect on wellbeing.”

Did Cressida Dick say in her statement exactly what she was going to do about the broken bond of trust? We need answers on exactly how Couzens was allowed to continue to serve? How will it be remedied? I'm infuriated at a list of platitudes, what action shall. We expect?

At best, this response from Metropolitan Police completely misses the point. At worst it's deliberate, clumsy and insulting deflection of any responsibility. The person who murdered Sarah Everard WAS a genuine police officer. 1/3 bbc.co.uk/news/uk-587573…

What are the Metropolitan Police doing to make sure they don't have officers on the beat who are a threat to women? And, how are they reprioritising 'low level' threatening sexual behaviour, like indecent exposure, to reduce the risk of women being exposed to something more serious? 2/3

And...it's reported that Wayne Couzens 'liked prostitutes' - was this known when he was an active police officer? Have Metropolitan Police investigated whether he used his officer status to acquire their services? Are they working with women's groups to co-produce a better response? 3/3

Technology is a great way to support people to remain independent, and make everyday life a little more simple. This Christmas why not branch out from the same old presents and consider how you can bring a little extra TEC sparkle to someone you love:

The most senior civil servant in the Department for Work and Pensions has been told that the continuing failure to sign a legal agreement that would force his department to improve its treatment of disabled claimants is “totally unacceptable”. #DWP disabilitynewsservice.com/dwps-failure-t…

No surprise that last minute funding for the wrong solutions don’t make a difference. NHSE data shows less than one in three people waiting in hospital at the beginning of 2023 were waiting for social care. In 2020/21 only one in 40 people referred to Councils needed care homes.

This. We need to stop the narrative that it's all about social care delays and truly work across, as one. It's also not all about getting people out of hospital, it's making sure they have the right community (health, social care etc) to give them every chance of not going in.

From the perspective of Ps family #DoLS #MCA extremely valuable information in here, to be embedded into practice. A reminder not to be complacent about the legal process and its impact on all parties. openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2023/03/17/dep…
