Appalling lack of communication from Jet2tweets in Rhodes airport. Gate changes without notification then the board saying final call before the plane has even arrived. Causing unnecessary worry for paying customers.

Dear GMC Did this case really seem like a useful spend of our time and money? Why on earth was this referral even sent to tribunal?! I’m in despair. And oh look another minority ethnic referral Partha S Kar 🇮🇳🇬🇧🏏🎥 mpts-uk.org/-/media/mpts-r…

First adult ED shift in a while today. Forgotten how grumpy most specialties are that I don’t know everything about their specialty and exactly how they want me to present it, and indeed that I’ve referred at all. civilitysaveslives

It's lucky Priti Patel MP wasn't a govt minister during WW2 or she'd probably be punishing Jews escaping the Holocaust instead of fighting the Nazi regime (Sorry to invoke Godwin's Law, but anyway...) #RefugeesWelcome bbc.co.uk/news/uk-618081…

Just met a med student who told me that in 3rd year (during COVID) instead of placement they were just put on an HCA rota and expected to work 35h/week without pay or medical degree teaching. I felt so bad for them.

I don’t want to leave, but unless someone does something serious about fixing social care/exit block soon, I don’t think I can handle it much longer 😢 Having more and more days where I leave work with a feeling of not wanting to come back. bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-…

University College London Hospitals appear to be threatening trainees with a £150 penalty fee and an inability to achieve end of year sign off if they don't attend a mandatory interprofessional study day. Since when has it been acceptable to start fining doctors like this?

I did everything on time. Medical staffing thought they wasn't responsible for paying me, they submitted to payrolls late. Informed, without asking for consent, we paid you 60% of your actual salary this month. No apologies. Expected to wait for 40% arrears in September.

Surgeons in training - be aware of context switching, attention residue and decision fatigue. Below is a near miss of mine I don't want you to repeat. #neurosurgery #training

Thread/ There is a particularly unpleasant Times leader today, which I won’t link. Entitled “Hospital Pass”, every word drips with predictable sneering at the NHS. It states (accurately) that Liz Truss leaves no room for ambiguity on her view of view of the NHS:

We are saddened and disheartened by the postponement of the UK sitting of the RCOG Part 1 exam - due on Mon 19th Sep. Junior Doctors spend months dedicated to revising for these exams. Delays cause a significant mental toll, as well as potentially affecting training progression

The destruction of state services, from the NHS onwards, will be on the cards from November if Truss makes it that far. This crisis might have been created to make this a possibility. There is no mandate for this, but democracy will not worry Truss, although it might her MPs.

HM Treasury I really don't think you've thought this through 1. A stamp duty saving of £11,250 indicates a purchase price of £600k 2. You're talking about someone on a salary of £30,000 3. A 25-year mortgage of £600k @ 4% interest would cost £3167 per month, so £38,000 per year

Utterly disgraceful that Junior Doctors, would be subjected to such coercive and bullying behaviour in an attempt to prevent them from claiming contractually due payment for stat/man training. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust must repudiate this management statement loudly and publicly to all JDs now…
