Dr Lade Smith, president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, said: “If government is committed to addressing this crisis, it must tackle the causes of mental illness and ensure people have timely access to the care and treatment they need.” theguardian.com/society/2024/a…

My mum was told she was fit to work.

They finally decided this wasn’t quite true two weeks before her death.

Years of painful bone cancer eating away at her. Days when she couldn’t move and yet deemed fit for work.

You would have told her to get a grip? I wish people like

Reflecting on this photo from

I’ve been in many meetings where psychiatrists have complained about this very quote

They say it’s unrealistic, unhelpful

It’s true that people will and do die. But is the bar so low that we’re not even allowed to aspire for better?

The debate on this is so nebulous

Lots of talk oh mental health “difficulties” and the “support” needed

Parity with physical health means more definition, more talk of illness and treatment

Can’t see it improving unless there is a stronger professional voice

All F1s at this deanery, as a collective, should boycott teaching until PAs are kicked off the F1 teaching programme

Either you need a medical degree to practice medicine, or you don’t

If you don’t, scrap medical schools, give students back the £100,000 in debt

Last week the GMC said that PAs are not replacing doctors and are not substitutes.

This week we can see that that was a very big fat lie.

Thank you for sharing such a powerful image. No one should be dying of an eating disorder in 2024 and we continue to fight for change

There are 1.9 million people stuck on waiting lists for mental health treatment.

Perhaps the Tories should look at their own failures before attacking sickness benefits on which people rely to survive.

This is performative cruelty at its absolute worst.

NHS Employers How abt starting with d realisation that paying me £15.50/hour after my five years degree and then refusing to listen to our protests AND replacing us with deskilled 2 year crash coursers who get paid more than us is simply downright cruel!!. Pay fair. We stay. Not rocket science

NHS Employers You only need 3 things to increase retention 1)Fair remuneration/pay restoration, 2) sufficient opportunity for carer progression ie increase training opportunities and 3) respect doctors and stop trying to replace them -the rest of this is useless without the above

The senior clinicians in trusts, colleges, GMC, NHS England should hang their heads in shame. This is their legacy. Yes, they may have their titles & honours now from this dreadful government, but they have lost any respect from much of the profession that cares about the future.

It's really a gravy train, once on it you can't get them off..and they attack people on benefits. Our parliamentary system a farse, not serving the people, needs reform, accountability, making systems fit for future...blow outdated tradition.

I've just emailed my MP with Rethink Mental Illness to tell them that the scapegoating of people living with mental illness must stop. Will you do the same? campaigns.rethink.org/page/148362/ac…
