Our political leaders are sleepwalking into climate catastrophe. My piece for the The Guardian on our priority for 2025: making the government wake up to the scale of the crisis ahead. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Several times, during these months of horror, I have wondered about my Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) classmates that went off to work at Lincoln Labs Lincoln Laboratory, Raytheon, and other defence contractors. Did any of them help make the "innovative" weapons genociding Palestinians in Gaza? Almost certainly yes.

If you want to change the world, teach engineers and natural scientists history, anthropology, sociology, political science, political economy. Because without history and social science, they can *so* easily be turned into a flesh version of killer robots. Pure horror.

If we can’t stop the genocide in Gaza, the least we can do is bear witness to the crime. A stunning column from Nesrine Malik, a titan of moral clarity as ever. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

October 2023: How dare you accuse us of bombing a hospital, we would never do such a thing! December 2024: We are using robot-guided bombs to destroy hospitals and nobody is saying a word! This is how they normalise Hell on earth, and nobody is safe.

Well, this is revealing. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced: "We defeated Hamas." In that way case, why is Israel still pummelling Gaza and massacring people? Katz has announced there is no military value in doing so. Therefore, a confession of war crimes.

Populations apparently entirely powerless to stop the genocide that our leaders decides should take place, against morals and popula will. We all know. And can but bear witness. Truly awful.

This is a West Bank settler. His content is regularly shared by pro-Israel accounts. Let’s be blunt. A society which produces cartoonish evil this extreme is not going to last.

Say their names: Fadi Hassouna, Ibrahim Al-Sheikh Ali, Mohammed Al-Ladah Faisal Abu Al-Qumsan and Ayman Al-Jadi. On Christmas Night, US-backed-Israel murdered 5 journalists, bring the number to an even 200 journalists killed in the genocide.

Ryan Grim (@ryangrim) 's Twitter Profile Photo

IDF is now openly acknowledging the 5 journalists they incinerated were indeed operating as journalists, but the IDF believed their work was “combat propaganda.” The IDF is entitled to its opinion and is free to engage in media criticism, but deliberately killed 5 journalists

You can see the problems with how the The New York Times frames what should already be common knowledge from its subheading. The newspaper offers empathy towards Israel for the reasons it committed these terrible war crimes. Literally more empathy than for the victims.

If you are an American, you are paying for this. Homelessness is skyrocketing in your country, life expectance (especially for the working class) lags behind other rich countries by years, but your government will always have enough money to immiserate the Palestinians.

This man is a hero Useless, no marks Keir Starmer David Lammy SHOULD be demanding his immediate release But they are too weak, too craven, too in thrall to USA & Israel to do what they SHOULD do

“The word 'apartheid' is exactly accurate…they are absolutely and totally separated." I will remember Jimmy Carter as one of the only US Presidents to speak honestly about Palestine.

The more I think about this, the more ominous it is. Using the Xmas hiatus (Israel always takes advantage of news lulls to commit worse crimes) to attack the symbolic head of all doctors in the world, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, while destroying the last hospital in N Gaza
