Excluding UTI on culture results, despite the symptoms and signs, is to "Ignore the base rate", which scientifically is a huge blunder. I explain this on Page 22 of Cystitis Unmasked. I have recorded an explanation of the fallacy with evidence, for the UKCS conference next week.

The fallacy of ignoring the base rate applies before we consider the incompetence of the test itself. Even if the culture was 95% sensitive and 95% specific (it is much worse) the base rate would make the probability that a negative test was false overwhelming high.

Indeed. Informed consent under Montgomery [2015] UKSC requires a subjective assessment according to patient and not Dr about what informed consent looks like. Much like #IC patients who are not informed about #cuti by NICE NHS England Patient autonomy rules.

Apologies mean nothing without real change. #cuti patient groups are here and we are well primed. We will challenge you and call you out whenever you speak against the science. We will not be shunted down roads to nowhere with farcical acronyms or “patient education campaigns”.
