People with learning disabilities 8x more likely to die with #covid; those with Down's Syndrome much more at risk. "Vulnerable people have been thrown to the wolves in this pandemic...they are the tier 2 people...all they've got is 'stay at home'" Dr Rachel Clarke Independent SAGE

📢We're calling on Disabled people! How does having to pay for care affect you? What do you have to go without? What could you do if you didn't have to pay for care? We need to make some noise. Please share your experiences using this hashtag: #MakeTheCapCare

Hi - another day, another question. Can anyone name some Black or Minority Ethnic UK scholars who write about race & disability please? Looking for stuff about race & disability, but most things seem to be written about the US context and I don't have diversity in authorship yet

Dr Addy Adelaine criposium Highly recommend Azeezat Johnson FarzanaKhan and The Triple Cripples. @SuriyaAisha is also doing amazing work in this area and recommend their podcast Sickbabe. I also write on the connections between colonialism, culture and disability. 💛

just remembered when the govt hired someone with an overt history of publishing pro eugenic positions and the appt was rescinded due to the backlash but now only those with good GCSEs are being allowed funding to go to university bc GCSEs are apparently a litmus for IQ?

The pandemic will end. In one way or another "The Covid Pandemic" will become a piece of history. What we will be left with is the memory of how we responded to it, of how we behaved. Protect each other and you will never be afraid to look back at this time and remember.
