Lovely M.C. Beaton just called in to sign a couple of books for Nina. Without her books, we would have closed years ago.

It's horrible watching the shop being stripped bare, knowing we'll not be replacing the books as they are sold.

Touching moment. Little girl on hearing we're going mainly due to Amazon. 'I'll never look at Amazon again.' Why? 'Because you're closing'.

Sorry to have been avoiding you all. It's been so busy here, these last three weeks, that we've had little time for twitter or our blogs.

Today, however, it's quiet enough for an update. Just 5 more days and we're closed for good.

The shop looks very sad but still folk are picking up bargains.

It's been in local papers, local free mag, blogs, big signs on the windows lots of gossip yet still locals coming in unaware we're closing.

We've faded from the twitter scene for a while because of our closure but a quick note to thank all out there who have sent commiserations.

Books from the past 10 years from WBD given away in exchange for a voucher. We were keen on the scheme but there's always leftovers.

Yes. Back on twitter after closing the shop and crying for a couple of months. Getting used to retirement.

Nina is at Jaffe and Neale in Chippy while David and I just mooch. I spend an enjoyable hour per week reading Thyme Running Out at school.

On Tues afternoons, the children read to me. Otherwise it's painting toy soldiers and pottering about. Sometimes we can be found at Tilly's.

I see our good friend Rebecca Tope will be signing her new book, Shadow in the Cotswolds, at The Borzoi (Stow on the Wold) 11am on 30 March.

Right, a little ironing I think. It will look as if I've done something when Anne gets back in.
