Every so often, you remember that in April 2020, Scotland’s chief medical officer resigned because she visited her own second home, with her own immediate family.

They didn’t resign over Covid deaths. They didn’t resign over benefit cuts. They didn’t resign over Partygate. They didn’t resign over PPE. They didn’t resign over Brexit failure. They didn’t resign over deporting refugees. Spare us the praise for the ‘good’ Tories.

Just so we're clear: Sunak, Javid and all the other Tory MPs abandoning Boris Johnson aren't acting from "principle" or "honour". They've known what he's like from the beginning. They're abandoning him because they now think his leadership threatens their interests. That's it.
