Ecce contract '23 '1.28 “Working Day” means a day which is not a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday' You have forced Early Years providers to sign that, despite only 'paying' for 182 days per year. Hypocrite. The Federation of Early Childhood Providers

Siobhan The Federation of Early Childhood Providers . I’m sure you are aware of all the unpaid hours providers and staff have worked over the past 8 weeks. Many providers working every night and weekends. Where is the work life balance for a predominately women lead sector that is under your remit. The Federation of Early Childhood Providers

Elaine Dunne Federation Early Childhood Providers massive turnout yesterday and great to be part of it. Momentum building. Even @BigStartIreland doing their part pushing their survey of 6 CHAIN’S profits all day, proving that Core Funding is unfairly distributed explaining why so many thousand hit the streets. 👏👏

Herein lies the problem, we see big corporate/chains getting bigger by ripping off parents & exploiting staff. The irony is this is exchequer funding going into profits not helping families while we face draconian rule while doing our best to help families independent.ie/business/irish…

Aontú Garda numbers decreasing, nurses numbers decreasing, ECEC staff and Providers decreasing. Hse Therapists I think must be extinct, certainly no services. This is what happens when there is no investment in people

Launching the next First 5 Ireland implementation plan is a great way to mark #WorldChildrensDay. Progress announcements include family support, home visiting & dedicated PHN service

#firstfive from @dcediy just tokenism. Zero change in ECEC has anything to do with the well-being of the child. It's all about the workforce getting children in services longer & cheaper, killing the small local service in preference for the Lg chain easier admin for themselves

What a difference in only 4 years !! It was such an amazing day showing a united Irish Early Years sector shouting for respect & appropriate funding for all. 'Education helps us to build an Ireland of tomorrow' - no such acknowledgement of the ECEC profession by Paschal Donohoe @dcediy to 'reduce childcare' costs for parents by an additional €1,100/yr. Minimum wage increasing to €13.50/hour in 2025 another nail in the coffin for ECEC!

Mary Moloney (@marymoloneyie) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The stark reality of studying for four years to become an early childhood educator. They earn €534.30/39 hour week. Now let's take someone on minimum wage, who will rightfully earn €526.50 from January' 25. It's definitely worth studying for 4 years for that extra €8/wk!

5 yrs ago the Profession came together around the table and put differences aside to focus collectively on what we wanted for our services, professionals, providers, children and families with a strong message put across to gov & @dcediy. We need people to come together again.

Leo Varadkar (@leovaradkar) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Disappointing decision. Hope it can be reviewed. Educating boys and girls together irrespective of their religious or ethnic background is the way forward North and South. It should not be imposed but in this case Parents voted for it but were blocked.

In the absence of adequate funding and comprehensive strategy for the profession, a public model is not the panacea people think. Reality check: Ireland does not meet the international investment target of 1% of GDP in ECEC. irishtimes.com/business/2025/…
