Hi James O'Brien LBC - Beowulf is an Anglo-Saxon poem - it's set in Denmark but is written in Old English. Alfred the Great (Anglo-Saxon king) would have spoken Old English, not Welsh. Chaucer is Middle English. Do read out some Beowulf, it's wonderful! :)
