The number of people who switched over to #Mastodon in the last week alone has surpassed 230 thousand, along with many returning to old accounts bumping the network to over 655 thousand active users, highest it's ever been! Why? 👉 x.com/joinmastodon/s…

I'm kinda surprised this powerful photo hasn't been making the rounds more during early voting. Hey Texans, thoughts and prayers ain't working, so go #vote for a #Beto governor who actually gives a shit about children being murdered. #BetoForTexas

Howdy Dallas! It sucks that it's cold and wet, but I'm here in town for #SC22. Got questions about how you can use #CentOS and #EPEL for your #HPC workloads? Come find me at the #RedHat booth and let's chat.

I'll be speaking at OLF Conference on Saturday. If you're gonna be there, come check out my talk "The Road to EPEL 9" to learn how EPEL was able to launch before RHEL for the first time ever.

Going to SCALE this week? Do you use the EPEL repository? Come to my talk "The Road to EPEL 9" to learn how EPEL was able to launch before RHEL for the first time ever. socallinuxexpo.org/scale/20x/pres… #epel #centos #rhel #redhat #scale20x

I have to say that I hoped for a more rational response when I saw that SFC had commented on Red Hat's code publishing change. I've held SFC in high regard for a very long time. sfconservancy.org/blog/2023/jun/…

I have some thoughts about CentOS Stream and the modernization of Red Hat's source code publishing. medium.com/@gordon.messme…

I think Matt’s right, and also it’s a silly move by RH. This likely won’t kill Alma or Rocky. If it changes them to be variants off CentOS Stream, and they stay stable (which they likely would!) it shows that the stability guarantees are easier to achieve than RHEL makes them out

Adam Jacob (@adamhjk) 's Twitter Profile Photo

RH should have said: look, what we want is collaboration building RHEL amongst all the downstream projects. We want this because supporting this endeavor is complex and expensive. We understand not everyone is going to pay for RHEL subscriptions. Obviously we wish you would!

For the people in the back: the software that makes up RHEL is open source. RHEL the product *isnt*. This is not sneaky. It’s always been this way. Red Hat owns those marks, and that brand is its product.

My perspective on the recent Red Hat blog posts regarding changes to how sources are published on git.centos.org jonathanspw.com/posts/2023-07-…

@zdnet You state that your writers "disclose conflicts of interest", so why do you continue to allow Steven Vaughan-Nichols to write about #RedHat without disclosing his relationship to CIQ?

Jeremy Allison Red Hat has never published the source to the extended release branches of RHEL, only the newest packages in the major release. Now that Stream is available, those are the latest packages. This is a change, certainly, but Red Hat restricting its source is not fundamentally new.

FOSS twitter/reddit is like an army of militant vegans just realising that RHEL is made from meat & made using an ugly process focused on producing the type of sausage RHs customers want I’m not sure what to make of this apparent rude awakening It’s not new or news

Take two: here's a survey about Extra Packages for #EnterpriseLinux that the #EPEL SIG is running! If you are a user or contributor, please give us your feedback. Survey closes at the end of September. #Fedora #Linux EPEL Survey: fedoraproject.limequery.com/epelsurvey2023
