Michael Taft How much did the bottom 10 make? The small local services that can't insist on 50 hrs per wk or no hours the one's that core funding was designed to push out of the market. The one's that employ local staff and pay fairer? Print that graph tell the other side of the story!
Michael Taft What that graph should tell people is that encouraging.. nay,abeting... large faceless creche chains with no vocation for the education and care of young children to make huge profits, while forcing dedicated small providers who devote decades to families to close, was a disgrace.
Michael Taft Small home from home services provide a 1-on-1 relationship with a child’s teacher & these settings become extensions of the family & are much sought after. These are under valued & under paid & if the Gov approach was truly child led these would be protected and valued.
Michael Taft Fascinating how SIPTU engages with the multi-national childcare providers (c.20% of the market) in this manner, while ignoring the plight of the the small providers (c.80%). "Social Partners" tried to keep FECP out of wage talks despite their majority status! Elaine Dunne Federation Early Childhood Providers
Michael Taft Just like you we have to represent our members and we continually have ask for you all to help support small and medium services to insure the viability and job security. Maybe it’s time for conversation on this. Happy to talk. The Federation of Early Childhood Providers
sharononeill Michael Taft Well below the European average in the sector and wastes money on consulting and unworkable schemes.
Blaming the air traffic controller - and somehow linking it to 'diversity' - is incomprehensible nonsense from a man devoid of empathy. ATC audio can be listened to by anybody, including the American president who can't be bothered to do that. I'll go through the transcript. /1

If we could stop the closure of small and medium services then maybe parents would have no issue finding a place for their children. We have been saying this for years. STOP the CLOSURES NOW Department of Children, Disability and Equality

Independent Ireland Ken I am more than happy to have a chat with you regarding Childcare. Children being failed through Aim support. Parents, providers and staff need you to address the real issues on the ground. We have been lobbing long enough to know a full review of the whole system is needed
David Quinn Niall Boylan Shameful that you would misrepresent Aistear in this way. The early childhood curriculum framework has been in existemce since 2009. Child agency is not new or revoluntionary and it is a child's fundamental right. See UNCRC 1989 Art 12. Young children have a oice & it matters
Our "childcare" system & funding model is broken. The government/ Department of Children, Disability and Equality keep defending it despite overwhelming agreement that it's failing children, families, educators & services. We have one review that was whitewashed by the dept. Conor O'Carroll thejournal.ie/investigates-c…
It was a pleasure to speak with Alison Nulty about the importance of early language & literacy development in early childhood and the critical role of early childhood educators in supporting this development. Congratulations Literacy Association of Ireland on your 50th anniversary
