A sherd from the Wedmore Bowl, a spouted bowl discovered in 1853 in Wedmore churchyard, #Somerset, containing a hoard of c. 200 silver pennies. The latest coins were of Harthacnut (reigned 1040-42), indicating a likely early/mid-11th century date for the pottery vessel.

Today marks the end of the HE Archaeology funded project to create a pottery type series for #Somerset. We have a core type series of 140 fabrics, which can be added to as necessary. Keep following for occasional updates on the forthcoming database and training opportunities!
