Have you had a go at our #GardenSpiderDensitySurvey? This quantitative survey will help us understand how close together our Garden Spiders are living! ๐Ÿงฎ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ผ Go out and count these wonderful orbweavers - we'd love to know how many you find per metre of vegetation! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐Ÿ“

Just done a BAS Surveys #GardenSpiderDensitySurvey Found 8 Garden Spiders along a stretch of hedgerow. Most webs were on Marsh Thistle & really difficult to photograph in the wind ๐ŸŒฌ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ท

If you have beautiful Garden Spiders Araneus diadematus in your garden, please consider taking part in our survey BAS Surveys to track changes in their abundance - a recent study in Switzerland showed a decline to only 0.7% of numbers c. 50 years ago.

I am not that good at identification of spiders, but is this an orb-weaver type? Maybe BAS Surveys could help ID? I have two. A bit bigger than 1cm in length.

BAS Surveys Saw your tweet and found just one Garden Spider in my garden.Same address as previous records . Have not seen anything like the number I have in the past, though they were quite plentiful on the Somerset Levels 8-11Sept .

Pretty sure this is a male Psilochorus simoni - maybe someone BAS can verify? A very cool little spider - one of 3 Pholcidae in the UK. Visited my flat in Penryn, Cornwall in late August. Not the easiest spider to photograph.

Cofnod #RecordOfTheWeek is this Garden Spider Araneus diadematus recorded by Susan Andrew near Bangor. Now is the very best time to see these large distinctive orb-web spiders. Join in a national survey run by BAS Surveys #GardenSpiderDensitySurvey britishspiders.org.uk/wiki2015/imageโ€ฆ

My wife asked why I was lying on carpet. The answer was obvious... A Daddy Longlegs Spider, Pholcus phalangioides, near the floor. They really are a lovely looking spider. #daddylonglegs #spider #pholcusphalangioides #spidersarecool BAS BAS Surveys BBC Springwatch

Fred As you seem to have an abundance of garden spiders, you might like to take part in the Garden Spider Density Survey (see britishspiders.org.uk/wiki2015/imageโ€ฆ for more info) BAS Surveys

#Arachtober Day 8: Daddy long-legs, or cellar spider (Pholcus phalagioides). The Scots name for these spiders is just wonderful: Meggie-spinnie. These specialise in eating giant house spiders (Eratigena sp.). Check out BAS Surveys #CellarSpiderSurvey: google.com/url?sa=t&sourcโ€ฆ

Disturbed this lovely Daddy Longlegs Spider, Pholcus phalangioides, when I was doing some tidying today. It hung around for a few photos before disappearing. #daddylonglegsspider #daddylonglegs #spider #pholcusphalangioides #lovespiders BAS BAS Surveys BBC Springwatch
