I understand the concerns about appeasement. But Munich 1938 is not a good analogy. 1) The war has already started, 2) Ukraine has stalemated the invader on the battlefield, and 3) only one ally is even considering appeasement. Ukraine is much stronger than Czechoslovakia.

Based on what I've seen so far, Trump may end up being the worst U.S. President in recent memory. He is working to unconstitutionally expand the power of the federal government, in particular the executive branch, and to inhibit free market capitalism in ways not seen since LBJ.

A small wave would fall short of 51, keeping the Senate in Rep hands. A 1932-style tsunami would put TX, FL, IA, and AK in play giving the Dems a shot at 55. Wide range of outcomes this far out.

There's nothing wrong with civilian nuclear fission per se. But it's a very minor player in global energy consumption for a reason. (Hint:$$$$). Most of the work of saving the planet will be done by wind, solar and geothermal.

🇺🇸🇺🇦 Happening right now: a big pro-Ukrainian rally in Anchorage ahead of the Trump-Putin meeting. “Ukraine and Alaska — Russian never again.”

It's OK that Trump and Putin didn't reach a deal in Alaska, as any deal Putin would have agreed to would probably have meant carving up Ukraine. Next step should be sanctions on Russia & secondary sanctions on its oil customers, and improved intelligence support for Ukraine.

The US is building a record amount of electricity generation capacity in 2025 to meet rapidly growing demand. And its overwhelmingly clean energy, with a bit of gas. Meanwhile the Trump administration wants to stop permitting of new solar and wind projects.

Heat pumps are magical machines. Instead of combusting fossil fuels to generate heat they transport heat from the air, ground or water into your home. This reduces carbon emissions instantly by about 80% with the current electricity mix. It will be 100% by mid 2030s.

Why has electricity gotten so expensive in America? Since 2019, utility spending on the power grid’s “last mile” distribution system — specifically poles and wires, underground equipment, and transformers — has surged. My latest for Heatmap News: heatmap.news/energy/why-is-…

There’s a persistent myth that new solar farms don’t really help tackle climate change because panels are “made with coal” and “never pay back” their carbon debt. This is simply false. UN data show solar 8x cleaner than gas, 19x than coal per kWh. Solar repays CO2 in 4months.
