"Spurred by the 1956 Federal Highway Act, planners gouged freeways through cities... What had once been three miles of waterfront public park directly interfacing with the city at every single block was reduced to 8 pedestrian overpasses." 📍Storrow Drive, Boston 📸 Segregation_by_Design

It is immoral to be providing revenue to Putin's regime right now, which underwrites his horrific war. Biden must halt all Russian oil imports now.

It's 6 am on Monday. In accordance with state law, every speed safety camera in NYC just turned back on after 56 hours offline. Speeding is illegal again — at least until 10 pm tonight. #SpeedingDoesntSleep

Storrow Drive is named after James Storrow, an investment banker who led a campaign to create the Charles River Basin and preserve and improve the riverbanks as a public park but had never advocated a parkway beside the river and his widow publicly opposed it. Have a nice day.

I wish Uber had preferences for driving safely and following traffic laws, just like selecting preferences for air conditioning temp and noise. It’s hard to tell your driver to slow down politely, my go to is “I’m not in a rush,” but even that’s a gamble.

Copley Square in Boston is surrounded on all sides by 3-lanes of high speed traffic... it's a space that could be so much more for the City. "Copley Connect" will study the future use of Dartmouth St. between Boston Public Library & Copley Square as a connector & active community space.

I didn’t think it would take a people protected bike lane to convince wutrain that Charles St needs safe separated cycling facilities, but hurrah to BostonCyclistsUnion for leading the charge! bostonglobe.com/2022/08/02/met…

Boston doesn't have a parking crisis... It has a housing crisis that's been made exponentially worse, in part, because of our obsession with arbitrary parking requirements.

The Uber Eats/DoorDash business model is bad for cities. Company's incentivize drivers to put speed over safety, and take no responsibility for costs imposed on the public. This industry needs regulation. We can support restaurants wo/ endangering lives and creating congestion.

This actually isn’t surprising at all, but it still needs to said over & over — the biggest barrier to more urban biking in cities is the fear of cars. “A study confirms that if we are serious about getting people on bikes, they need a safe place to ride.” treehugger.com/fear-of-cars-b…

visited Boston's South End: 300 acres of dense townhomes along beautiful tree lined streets filled with little parks, lots of ground floor cafes and shops, walkable to downtown, right on public transit lines, diverse population why does every city in the US not want this?
