We came to live in France when this country was an EU member. We set off one day without telling France we were coming. We arrived and set about finding a house. No one questioned why we were here at all. We needed a doctor and were treated, free of charge, no questions asked.

We then found a house and went through the legal formalities, and no one asked us any questions. We moved into our village and were warmly welcomed by the locals who are 98%French. We are fully integrated into every part of the French system, and not once has anyone hindered us.

We are free to travel anywhere in the EU. We have a good standard of living and have no regrets about moving here. I am just sorry that that chance is now denied to others. I really need a Brexiteer to tell me what they object to in Britain trying to rejoin?

The EU is a force for good in the world. We could make a real contribution here and really behave like a mature democracy instead of all this puerile posturing, bad faith and ill-will towards others. We are, surely, better than that?
