I'm sad to report that Frank Duckworth MBE, co-creator of the Duckworth-Lewis method for adjusting targets in rain-affected cricket matches, passed away last Friday. His method was used just yesterday in the rain-affected World Cup match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. RIP.

Only four players have ever had a Test innings in which their score was the square root of the year when it was made: Dudley Nourse, Jack Siedle, Bert Oldfield and Amar Singh, all of whom scored 44 in 1936 (44^2). Others have the opportunity to join them by scoring 45 in 2025!
