Deep Singh Badhesha It's insanely expensive to campaign statewide here and capital + corporate Dems put significant effort into marginalizing the few local DSA-backed people who manage to get elected locally using every lever they have (media, IEs, redistricting, threats of violence) but fair point

people who die on the hill of defending politicians misconduct are the lowest of the low. we elect these people to represent us. we pay their fucking salaries. their power is only so much that they are public servants, tasked to fulfill the needs of the people they are *supposed*

He's so good at this it's insane. A breezy, light, fun video that talks about the value of government without any of the neoliberal hedging we're used to. I'm so jealous of NYC, man.

Zohran has made abundance bend the knee to an agenda that also centers rent control and social housing. And that’s frankly the best future YIMBY should hope—helping zone for a more humane housing agenda that directs the market to meet social needs.

NOW - NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani says being a socialist is nothing to be ashamed of, "we will not be ashamed of... standing steadfast alongside our trans neighbours... or fighting for immigrants targeted by ICE."

“I have thought often of the Margaret Thatcher’s quote, ‘The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.’ If anything, my friends, it seems that you eventually need a socialist to clean up the mess.” – Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani

Two rules: 1. Zealous client advocacy doesn't require attorneys to be disgusting sleazeballs 2. If your attorney is using your case to be controversial on TV, they're in it for themselves, not you.

Graham Platner: “In 1990 there were fewer than 80 billionaires in the US. Today there are over 900. Do you see a state of Maine that is 10x wealthier than 1990? Have our wages gone up 10x? Do we have 10x the schools? 10x the hospitals? No, we have less. The money went somewhere

The whole Boots Riley thing really emphasizes how many Serious Politics havers™ are just vibes based lifestylists who can’t even seem to grasp the basic concept that *everything* is mediated by capital under this system and that there’s no such thing as “pure” money. My

Asian excellence isn't viewed thru a lens of resistance to systemic oppression. Instead society uses Asian achievement to dehumanize the individual and create permission structures for tropes. Of course we can make fun of Asians, look how many of them get into Harvard.

As someone with a pretty thoroughbred blue-blood educational résumé who deeply values fine art of all kinds... ... it seems obvious and understandable that current-day nihilism is the most proximate fault of decades of wealthy elites shredding the social contract for profit.

One of the ways you know the AAPI community is politically underdeveloped is we don't have a community-specific pejorative term for bootlicking pick mes like this guy

Here's an idea - we give people SNAP, except we remove patronizing restrictions, and also allow people to use it on other daily non-food necessities, and aha! Got you it's actually guaranteed basic income which study after study confirms is the best form of social welfare ~~
