If every BC’er eligible for the ICBC Covid rebate allocated 5% to ALS research / clinical trials it would amount to $30M. This would be an unprecedented investment in ALS in Canada and would accelerate the global search for treatments / cures. Mike Farnworth Adrian Dix ICBC

This was the headline from 2016. Canadian families are still waiting for action to be taken. #ItsTime for Canada to join the global movement to #EndALS Justin Trudeau Patty Hajdu Trudeau urges support for ALS research as Commons honours Belanger globalnews.ca/news/2567737/t…

I graduated from high school in North Vancouver in 1988. 3 of my classmates lost a parent to ALS (in 1992, 1993 & 2003). Including me, that makes (at least) 4 families from my grad class. And that’s why we need the BC Gov’t to start funding research & treatment development.

I urge you to keep sharing these stories🙏 Although heartbreaking, the truth of ALS care in BC is shocking. Those impacted by the disease including my family are working tirelessly to advocate for treatment. Appalling that gov’t forces ALS patients to fundraise for adequate care.

When families impacted by ALS ask the BC Gov’t for funding for research and clinical trials, we get a letter back saying it is not possible to provide a commitment to any funding b/c of COVID cost pressures. But we can spend $83M on new campsites and trails? Adrian Dix

Ok BC’ers, I’m donating my ICBC rebate cheque to ALS Action Canada to support better treatment in BC and more research Canada-wide. Please consider donating a portion of your cheque to help one of the most vulnerable patient communities in Canada. #EndALS alsactioncanada.org/donate

These words. They take on a different meaning for someone living with ALS but they are important words for all of us to keep top of mind. On this Thanksgiving, I am grateful for my husband’s superpower ❤️ Greg Gowe

Let’s make that the same goal for the BC ALS Clinic. Currently, it is a Tier 2 or 3 clinic compared to other clinics just in Canada.
