One of the worst things about abuse is that it often eats away at all the things the survivor will need to escape & thrive - their financial resources, their support systems, their health, their faith in their own judgement, & their belief they they even deserve anything better.

Any discussion of children as victims of domestic violence will backfire against survivors unless two conditions are met: 1) perpetrators' behaviors are explicitly cited as the cause of the harm & 2) survivors' full spectrum of protective efforts are seen and validated
