Yes. That's why Prof. Akiko Iwasaki is one of my #LongCovid Super Heroes. I agree w/ her four hypothesis as I align with a couple incl EBV shown at onset. For me, extended Paxlovid and maraviroc didn't help but alas I'm off treating cancer now.
Kicking off Day of Immunology, which is a fantastic event organized by Sasha Tabachnikova 🇺🇦 and Yale Pathways to Science to expose high school students to science and #Immunology . Our Keynote speaker is David R. Martinez 💪
3 in 10 adults in the USA report #LongCovid symptoms after infection. The risk has declined with omicron compared to delta, but we can't let down our guard in terms of prevention, because so many people are continuing to be infected. Akiko Iwasaki PhD👇 1/2

thanks to Prof. Akiko Iwasaki for this lovely spotlight of our work on Type I interferons in brain development, including implications for future studies of how viruses may impact the brain.
In a nationally representative sample, we estimated that in 2022, 18m Americans reported having had #LongCovid ; of those, 50% had recovered. There is hope, and yet much more work to do. Thrilled to share another chapter of my PhD work w/ Prof. Akiko Iwasaki where we repurposed neomycin to elicit immunological protection against respiratory viral infection and transmission!! (1/3)
Wow. Well, as I’ve mentioned a few times here, one anti-COVID measure I’ve been taking for 4 years is application of neosporin to my nose (in high-risk situations like MD appts etc).
Thrilled to see Prof. Akiko Iwasaki & team confirm this as being effective against COVID etc
We are witnessing firsthand one of the oldest and best schools in Public Health and Epidemiology acknowledging for the first time some very important information here.
Thank you, Yale School of Public Health Yale School of Public Health for sharing this.
