Alice Wong 王美華 And since the public emergency “ended” in May most insurances companies won’t cover at-home COVID tests anymore so most people can’t afford to test if they even have it. Found that out trying to order more tests at my pharmacy. Thanks for nothing Blue Cross Blue Shield Association of TX!

NOW: We're in federal court to challenge voter suppression law #SB1 and defend the rights of Texas voters. The legislature passed this law in 2021 despite widespread opposition — including some lawmakers leaving the state to break quorum. Here's what's at stake: 🧵

“If they go without care, it means that they have to call 911 to get out of bed.” Disabled adults in a Texas Medicaid program might lose care after budget changes inadvertently cut pay for caregivers — who are often their own parents. Texas Tribune texastribune.org/2023/09/11/tex…

UPDATE: The test2treat.org website is no longer accepting registrations for now due to so many sign-ups. Hopefully they resume soon, but this demonstrates the continued demand for access to COVID resources. The government needs to do more to provide them.

#SB1 has created barriers to participating in democracy for so many of us — whether voters of color, elderly voters, or voters with disabilities. It's time to strike down this sweeping anti-voting law. texastribune.org/2023/09/11/tex…

During the recent debate, President Trump claimed he “saved” the Affordable Care Act. I talked to some of the disabled women from iconic 2017 ACA/Medicaid protest photos about how they feel about that. 19thnews.org/2024/09/disabl…
