davidlawes.substack.com/p/entitlement-… I look forward to reading all the "April Fool" jokes that this Substack piece is likely to generate....

browncarguy.com/2026/04/01/dri… If anything illustrates why everyone who uses motorised transport needs to be exceptionally careful what he/she wishes for, it's this. The goalposts can be shifted any time in order to meet quotas for getting cars and drivers off the road.

There is clearly no desire for a modal shift to public transport, which is a lifeline for a lot of genuinely vulnerable people who can't drive or cycle. What there is is a drive to trap us in our own homes. Well it's for our safety, after all.

This is the reality that no-one wants to acknowledge. Users of four-wheeled motorised transport outnumber those who use two-wheeled pedal-powered or electrically-powered transport. And allegedly we live in a democracy. So the will of the majority has to prevail. If only!

This is how much they care about the mobility of the genuinely vulnerable in London. Chiuswick High Road is the epitome of municipal mismanagement.

Authoritarian is an understatement. I'll give a 55mph limit a shelf life of a year. Then it'll be 45mph on safety grounds, safety being invoked by every tyrant since Roman times

I sympathise with the author's view over the inadequacy of many sentences for driving that is obviously extremely dangerous. BUT... When 20mph limits go up on dual carriageways and councils start reducing 20mph limits to 10mph, my sympathy ceases. Bring back the Tufty Club.

Rupert Lowe: “Speak English or Go” youtu.be/Eqnqjurdbv0?si… via YouTube Ada Akpala has got it 100% on this one. In a country as diverse as the UK is now, a common language is absolutely indispensable. That language has to be the pre existing national one, English.

Expect more pedestrian/cyclist collisions. I challenge anyone to tell me what use the Hierarchy of Road Users is to pedestrians in such circumstances, other than as a lever to get a bigger payout for an collision that could have been avoided altogether with better planning.
