Thanks to everyone who joined us for our first control days on the Almond this year! We've started tackling giant hogweed at the Bertha park site and surrounding areas while the vegetation is still low and manageable. 1/3

A fine morning yesterday for our black grouse lek count and great to record an increase in our number of lekking males. This was due to an increase of some of our known leks but also the recent discovery of two new lek sites. Hopefully this upturn occurs elsewhere too.

Five new trapping locations set up in the Tay catchment late last week. Still trying to increase mink coverage in between all our plant work. Important to keep the pressure up and catch the mink wherever we can. Scottish Invasive Species Initiative NatureScot Tay Salmon Board

Finishing the weekend with a close encounter of the otter kind. A lovely female just headed in after fishing whilst I was sitting enjoying the cracking evening. A wee bonus to these views. SCRA NatureScot

Control work has begun on the Urie to tackle the significant giant hogweed infestation present along the river. This particular site is best tackled early on as the plants were already at knee height & growing under young trees, making access challenging later in the season. 1/2
