The Green Sandpiper was still present yesterday, but among the many common migrants, bird of the day was undoubtedly the Waxwing reported by Xavier of the St Kilda Soay Sheep Project Project last night! (Record shot through bins- excellent work by Xavier and Rebecca!) Outer Hebrides Birds BirdGuides
Only the fourth spring record for Green Sandpiper on #StKilda on 28th April over in Gleann Mor. Also only the second April record for the Outer Hebrides! Outer Hebrides Birds BirdGuides
White-beaked Dolphins have been putting on quite the show around #StKilda this week! Among the most acrobatic of dolphins, it was a joy watching the more excitable individuals repeatedly launching metres clear of the water! Circa 80 on 28th April in 2 large groups. Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust

A rare bird for a wee archipelago out in the Atlantic! A very skulky Moorhen was picked up this morning by the eagle eye of the National Trust for Scotland Ops Manager Will Boyd-Wallis this morning in front of the Manse. 18th record for #StKilda - Great find Will! ππ₯ Outer Hebrides Birds BirdGuides
A few recent bird highlights on #StKilda have included a Kestrel joining the Merlin party, a couple of Great Northern Divers in Village Bay, and a record island count of 4 Short-eared Owls up on Conachair today. Outer Hebrides Birds BirdGuides
Clear skies and stunning views, with the Manse eerily lit by the full moon @NTS St Kilda Club #darkskies
After a frantic couple of days preparing, we welcomed the first boat of the year into Village Bay this morning. Great to see Kilda Cruises back, and looking forward to many more visits in the coming months π National Trust for Scotland
Mostly distant views of a smart adult Iceland Gull today over on Ruiaval. Outer Hebrides Birds BirdGuides
Spring migration so far on #StKilda has included the usual passage of wildfowl, a couple of Woodcock, small flocks of Redwing, Blackbirds, Song Thrush, a young Stonechat and an Iceland Gull in Village Bay on 8th April. Outer Hebrides Birds BirdGuides National Trust for Scotland
Fulmars were back en masse yesterday, filling the sky out the back of Conachair and cackling to one another from the turf roofs of cleits in the Village. #NTSSeabirds
The first few Bonxies of the year returned on 7th April, soaring over the hills among a blizzard of Fulmars. It won't be long before they're back defending territories again. Here's hoping for a continued recovery following the #HPAI decline in 2022. #NTSSeabirds UK Seabird Monitoring Programme
A bit windy out there today. Hard to believe that day boats will be landing here again in a little over two weeks! Plenty Fulmars back around Village Bay, seemingly enjoying the stormy weather. #NTSSeabirds
