As ever, the police are choosing to respond this way. Nothing about this is inevitable. It is a choice, and one they always seem to relish. You can’t reform this kind of policing, because the point is, it is intentionally threatening and frightening.

I cannot fathom the disrespect of Metropolitan Police trampling flowers laid for a murdered woman. I cannot possibly understand that choice - and it WAS an entirely unnecessary choice.
