Today is my 60th birthday. I won’t be celebrating in the way I would like to. My only income from the 1 apartment I own is spent on my service charge. Our huge insurance premium is crippling me financially. I don’t ask for much, really I don’t. My life would be so different if I

Welcome back Michael Gove! Please solve it once and for all…for everyone. PS please put RICS back in their box, we’ve had enough of their meddling and self-justification.

10/10 Leaseholders everywhere look forward to the FCA recommending concrete action that the government carries forward as necessary.

We have waited too long, being ripped off too much, to let the current situation continue.

Liam Spender It has always seemed odd that James Dalton talks about market interventions being complex. Yet it only took 12 months to get original pool re: on the statute books Greg Clark

James Dalton ABI A 10% rise over & above the hike 4 when building was unsafe. Seem 2B applying an inflationary rise over the building safety rise even though the building safety risk has been remediated. That is extortion. ABI is profiteering at expense. Explanation?

James Dalton UK Cladding Action Group ABI If your industry is doing such a great job, why are we currently receiving threats from our insurer to raise funds from leaseholders to remediate cladding before renewal next year otherwise they will no longer insure us? Disgraceful!

1/10 Some minor improvements mentioned in this blog (ability to ask for premium to be recalculated once works have reached 'a sufficient standard' and to switch insurer, without penalty, if a better rate appears after policy has commenced.

But...

The rumbles on. Leaseholders face the on top of uncapped bills for anything at any time. Many can't afford these costs yet have no way to sell and get out

Just found out our cladding remediation has been delayed from Spring 2022, to early 2023 due to increased costs bc of Inflation/Brexit/Ukraine etc. We've had to reapply to the BSF. I have also been issued with a £1118 bill for a deficit from 2020 due to WW and insurance...

We've spoken to UK Finance. This data doesn't distinguish between flats in purpose built blocks, 2 storey houses converted into flats, or multi million pound flats in mansions in London.
There is deliberately no drilling down of data to make numbers appear rosier than the facts.

The Deck Runcorn 🇺🇦 We have been told our development will take 2 years to remediate. 3 years of huge insurance premiums. There is no end to these bills. We are struggling. Broken mentally and financially. ABI Greg Clark

Soo...Developers only have to sign a 'pledge' with no legal force.
But leaseholders have to pay as being written into law by Michael Gove Rishi Sunak & Stephen Greenhalgh.
Is it just us or is it obvious to everyone who these ministers are actually protecting?

This... Literally changes nothing? 'we'll lend if you have all funds, know when works starts & ends and have it all costed' is not the win you claim it is when those are the things we're all unable to get? Government needs to fund and claim it back after or this will never end.

The industry has massively increased insurance premiums, even where risks have been remediated or mitigated ❌

ABI have made huge profits on the back of the building safety crisis.

They have failed to deliver a solution to support leaseholders.

Stephen Greenhalgh Hannah Gurga ABI British Insurance Brokers' Association Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities Allowing the industry to find a solution clearly isn’t working. We would appreciate campaign groups involved in these discussions Stephen Greenhalgh We have the evidence of these hikes, denied last year by the industry.
