Most of these MDs will work in a non 1o care envt. How do I know this? Bc I literally teach them. They’re seeking clinical opportunities where they are paid enough to pay back their $150K debt.

If I got paid this much for my panel size of about 1000 patients I’d be getting a raise.
I’m 10 years into practice and still 6 figures in debt. I’m so tired of being undervalued.

In 23y of practice, after 14y of post-secondary ed, I've never had that high an income for my 1000 patients despite working 50+ hours weekly. And recall, my overhead comes OUT of my income. And recall, family docs have NO pension, benefits, vacation.

Simply incomprehensible to me that BC is one of the few provinces not sending a representative to CAEP National Summit on Emergency Health Care.

Societal lack of appreciation for the role of physicians and the training and responsibilities it entails I find very demoralizing.

Yes. The future of primary care should be efficient and effective team based care. Teams should be coordinated by a primary care physician.
