Who decides what constitutes art? After reading about Congo, a chimpanzee from the 1950s whose artwork sold for thousands of dollars, students attempted an abstract piece of artwork.

Can animals create art? That is the issue students debated after reading “Monkey Master” this week. They spent time preparing their arguments, anticipating the other-side, and then taking part in a structured debate. This is an impressive group!

Creative Writing Club enjoyed a holiday poetry slam complete with hot chocolate and snacks!

After reading the reflective essay “Is Our Gain Also Our Loss?” Students used white boards to evaluate the most significant passage.

Time to debate! Can you classify each food item as either a soup, salad, or sandwich? Explain why. Students walked around and categorized various foods— soup, salad, or sandwich? Then they debated in front of the classroom. So, is pizza a soup, salad, or sandwich?

Students created surveys about technology for their parents to answer. Parents sent in questions about technology for their kids to answer. Data analysis and presentation happening in this classroom!
