UK doctors want a £0.7bn a year pay rise, the NHS is paying £32bn a year to Private Healthcare with a profit margin of 30-40%. Do the maths and tell me which is unaffordable.

I wonder if the people who attack Resident Doctors on social media would take the opportunity to tell them how much they despise them when being treated by them in A & E or on a ward?

Ankit Kant (@ankitkant) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It's a strange thing to try and leverage. He is threatening to not train enough doctors to meet the health needs of the population. Who does he think will provide care for people? I am genuinely interested to know the workforce plan if we don't train enough?

People should stop reminding him of what he said in 2022. That was when he was in Opposition, he has a different set of principles for when in power.

Wes Streeting But how many of these "GP" appointments were actually with non-doctors*? *clinicians, practitioners, ANPs ACPs, PAs, advanced practitioners, specialist practitioners, advanced clinicians, specialist clinicians...

Anisopoikilocyte (@anisocyte) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ankit Kant He’s probably bought into the idea that ACPs etc can become “specialists” in Medicine without ever having studied or qualified in Medicine. It’s unlikely that Streeting is being advised by people who are experts on medical practice and or successful in workforce planning. 1/

Ankit Kant The one time he got someone who had actual credentials and knew what she was talking about (Leng), she basically said everything that’d happened was really very wrong. And that tells you a lot about the disaster that is NHS management right now, and they’re his advisors. 2/2

If plumbers are worth £90 an hour, and corporate lawyers are billed at £1000 an hour, surely resident doctors deserve £22? Tell me I'm wrong.

Streetings getting away with this because the public have purposely been kept in the dark. Don't realise they're having a consultation with someone who hasn't studied medicine, just 2yrs training. He's playing Russian Roulette with our health. Propaganda gaslighting patients.

David Smith Indeed, a very easy way to release some money for more training posts and local posts and also the right thing to do given current PA unemployment in Wales. We clearly need more doctors, it’s not evident at all that we need more PAs.

Dr Haseena Wazir (@drhwazir) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The fact the Health Secretary is getting community noted says it all. Patients want to see GPs - but many appointments aren’t with actual GPs. Meanwhile, fully trained GPs are being forced out because there are no jobs for them. Some are now driving Ubers to make ends meet.

NHS Swipe Card Wes Streeting Keir Starmer A fraction of nurse practioners (only few months bookwork) vs junior drs (ongoing independent in-work exams & training till becoming consultants) yet disproportionately higher safety incidents in nurse practioners! Safety matters. Use doctors not noctors! england.nhs.uk/wp-content/upl…

Dr Sumi Manirajan One more time for those at the back. There’s NO SHORTAGE of GPs, just a shortage of funding for GP jobs. & there’s NO SHORTAGE of qualified Drs wanting to train as GPs, just a shortage of training places. Public money is being used to REPLACE GPs. Wes Streeting Stephen Kinnock
