One of the biggest barriers to disabled peopleโ€˜s full and equitable participation in society is not being believed.

About how our disabilities present, the supports we need, what we can and canโ€™t do.

Not being believed is where so much ableism and inaccessibility begins.

โ€œEveryoneโ€™s a little bit autistic.โ€

Until autism makes you run away from overstimulating environments without saying goodbye to anyone.

Until autism makes you too exhausted/overwhelmed to go to social events.

Until autism makes you โ€˜impoliteโ€™ or even overtly rude sometimes.

Much of ADHD medication discourse is rooted in a lack of understanding.

Research shows us that ADHD medication reduces addiction, criminality, depression, injury, car accidents, suicidality & substance misuse, and improves quality of life, safety & educational outcomes.

Loads of ADHDers need ADHD meds (yes, often stimulants) to be able to function better in their everyday lives.

Newsflash: ADHDers having ADHD meds reduces the risk of addiction.

Dyspraxia affects co-ordination, spatial awareness and sensory perception.

Dyspraxic kids and teens are twice as likely to develop mental health problems.

Half of children with dyspraxia also have ADHD.

Dyspraxia is often dismissed as something we all experience to a degree.

Autism for me is primarily a sensory disorder. I have to move and take information through my senses or I CAN'T learn. So by forcing me into mainstream school, where I had to sit still, I was DEPRIVED of an education.

What these people are advocating is child abuse. I know the way they put it doesn't sound bad, but this is about a very controlled, clinically callous form of manipulation. I'll drop some more links below so you can understand the context.

'Say 'people with disabilities' rather than 'disabled people' because it's important to put the fact that you are people first.'

Mate, if you forget that I'm a person because I say 'disabled person' rather than 'person with a disability', that's very much a you problem.
