Review of UK Security & Defence. Not related to the UK MOD. Less focus on nuclear weapons, more on conventional arms. Pro- DFID. Not a CCP member or mole.

I was going for the hat trick, building on my bold prediction that the UK would switch back to F35B after switching to the F35C. Sadly, was followed by an own goal when I said T26 was unlikely to be exported 😀

The frame for the Tamir launchers is different to MBDA's Land Precision Strike concept, though they have similar dimensions.

Rafael supply the MIC4AD system for Sky Sabre BMC4i, perhaps easing Iron Dome addition.

Would 'full Iron Dome' alongside CAMM enhance Sky Sabre?

🚨personal news🚨I’ll be leaving the BBC at the end of May. Newsnight in its current format will end then, so most posts will go. I decided not to apply for other BBC jobs. Working there for 35 yrs has been life defining: an eyewitness to history collaborating with such brilliant…

Whilst no doubt impressive, last night is another step up the ladder of what is tolerated. The strategy of deescalation and turning the other cheek has a finite lifespan.

Shooting down low cost drones with high cost missiles and aircraft is not as silly as many think (given the destruction at the end) but beyond guns, it might not be a bad idea to look at low cost, modest specification AA missiles

Some controversial ratings here!
The Puma is no Wessex (or Chinook🤭), but it has given 45 years of RAF service, notwithstanding it's shortcomings.
They used to be known as 'plastic pigs' in the first decade, not sure what today's operators think?

Yes. F-35B interoperability from carriers with USMC (and also Japan) is certainly a plus, but no secret RAF wanted the 'A' version on grounds of cost, range, performance. This was a compromise solution, mitigating the sunk costs in the carrier programme. And 138 F-35s? Unlikely.

Here is announcement on Zveszda web site: tvzvezda.ru/news/202441221…

Flight was “part of testing promising missile systems and confirming the stability of missiles in service.”

If so, clear Kazakhstan violation of TPNW. Zvezda article does not mention Kazakhstan.

Russia appears to have carried out a test flight of an ICBM - possibly an SS-27 Mod 1 (Topol-ME) - from Kapustin Yar into Kazakhstan.

If so, this would be 2nd time in a year that Kazakhstan has violated its pledge under treaty not to assist nuclear missile tests.

Good to deploy it, good to test it and help Ukraine, absolutely, but limited capability. Point defense close-in weapon. But most of you already know that.

Huge congratulations to CC 232, which saw 161 UK & International Officer Cadets commission & march up those famous steps for the last time today.

A very proud moment for all of them and their families and I wish them all the success for the future as they lead our men and women.

Urban operations are not specialists-only tasks, and training should be standard stuff (inc. live fire) just as it is for other environments.
